Frequently Asked Questions

Ready to start feeling better, but have a few questions first?

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions I receive. If you don’t see your question listed below please reach out and send a message. I look forward to supporting you in living a brighter, more balanced life.

  • Taking a holistic and integrative approach to mental health means that I recognize that our thoughts and emotions are intertwined with our other states of being, and that to support our mental health means supporting our whole being. For example, someone suffering from anxiety may have concurrent digestive concerns like diarrhea or respiratory concerns like asthma, and supporting these other body systems can in turn help alleviate the anxiety. The integrative aspect of care means that I integrate a wide range of treatment options, combining the best of both conventional as well as traditional/alternative therapeutics to give you real results that address the underlying cause of your health concerns.

  • While people often initially come here for concerns regarding their mental health (like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, Autism, PTSD, and others), the other organ systems in our body function in concert with one another. Other health concerns that are often intertwined with our mental health, and which I frequently provide support for, include:

    • Endocrine issues (thyroid and adrenal disorders, weight gain, menopause, andropause, insulin resistance and diabetes)

    • Women’s health: (hormone imbalance, PMS, and menstrual disorders),

    • Hormone therapy for men and women including bio-identical hormones and testosterone

    • Medical detoxification (general detox support as well as environmental toxicity evaluation and treatment for heavy metals)

    • Pain, both chronic and acute (joint disorders, arthritis, spinal pain, migraines, fibromyalgia)

    • Gastrointestinal issues (IBS/IBD, food allergies and sensitivities, candida overgrowth, SIBO, indigestion/GERD)

    • Fatigue (hormonal, viral, chronic, insomnia and other sleep disorders)

    • Immune dysfunction (autoimmune conditions, frequent illnesses, recurrent infections)

And many others… if you’re not sure, just reach out and ask!

  • While I usually work with patients to use the least invasive form of treatment necessary, I can prescribe an array of medications that help manage symptoms for a wide range of conditions — including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. This includes medications like:

    Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)

    • Escitalopram (Lexapro), Sertraline (Zoloft), Fluoxetine (Prozac), and more.

Serotonin & Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs)

    • Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), and more.

    Atypical Antipsychotics

    • Aripiprazole (Abilify), Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Quetiapine (Seroquel), and more.

I do not prescribe controlled substances. This includes medications like:

    • Benzodiazepines (Xanax or Klonopin)

    • Stimulants (Adderall or Concerta)

    • Hallucinogens (ketamine)

I can also prescribe other non-addictive, clinically proven medications and treatment options that may support you.

  • Yes! While my main focus is in mental health, I have many years of experience in supporting patients through a wide variety of other health concerns, and am happy to continue providing general naturopathic care when needed. If you’re feeling unsure, just send a message on the “Schedule an Appointment” page and we can have a quick chat to see if my care would be a good fit for you.

  • I want you to feel fully informed before your visit. Here’s a quick overview:

    • First Visit (for New Patients): $365 for up to 90 minutes. If we need a little extra time, it’s $30 for each additional 10 minutes.

    • Follow-up Visits: $150 for the first 20 minutes, plus $30 for each extra 10 minutes if needed.

    • Booking Deposit: To reserve your time, I ask for a $100 deposit when you schedule. It’s applied to the total cost of your visit.

    • If You Need to Cancel: I understand — sometimes plans change. If you cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours' notice, we’ll simply move your deposit to your new appointment. With less notice, the deposit is nonrefundable.

I’m here to support you and make this process as easy as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

  • Your initial visit includes a 1.5 hour in-depth intake session. After that, we’ll work together to decide how often we should meet according to your specific needs and my clinical recommendations, which varies by individual.

Often times at the onset of treatment I like to meet with patients on a more regular basis, and then as you are feeling better we can usually stretch out the time in between visits as you continue to feel well.

  • For telehealth visits, I am licensed in both California and Oregon and can see you virtually throughout either of those states.

For in-person visits, I am available most Fridays at 735 12th St., Arcata, CA (within the Arcata Wellness Center building).
